I am a man who has a sexual addiction. I can so relate to this article. For the past seven weeks I have off and on been looking at pornography or risque materials on the internet.

Just this week I got onto a very graphic pornographic website and it was hard to stop. I even downloaded a spyware program that would mess with my "accountability software" and so delete it. Well, what happened was that the computer I tried this on was unable to delete the accountability software but the conflict of having both the accountability software and this spyware program on my computer at the same caused me to be unable to access the internet on that computer. I called the accountability software company, they had me completely remove the "spyware program" and then uninstall and reinstall the accountability software; that computer is now working fine and I gave three websites to my accountability software company that are not safe for me to be on, two that have good and bad videos, the other a staight up porn site, the accountability company added these to my "no access" list, and I am now much safer on the internet.

I had come to a painful place of brokenness, and got past the denial of thinking it is ok for me to look at porn; it is not, and now I feel much stronger.

Praise the Lord!

Good article. I so agree that the Christian life is often hard, but God is still good -- loving and forgiving. However, I think that many Christians in days gone by really DID possess a spiritual joy that I rarely see any more. I wonder why that is? A great book I would recommend, dealing with the hard realities of the Christian life, is "Water from Stone." You can find it at amazon or other used book websites. Thanks for your article.
