Here's what I believe
Oh by the way missing from a "Christian" perspective are words such as, gospel, cross and born again. You might want to at least offer a caution that A.A. is full of crap and so is secular recovery.

Drug and alcohol – We believe - various definitions of alcoholism and disease exist and equally credentialed secular authorities are in disagreement on foundational definitions. Moreover, a secular perspective often vehemently denies any moral considerations of alcohol abuse. The Bible lists drunkenness along with other sins such as sexual sin and we cannot deny the common sense perspective that we have to be accountable for what we do. “Treatment” is really education which attempts to empower a choice to abstain. A choice is not consistent with disease. A choice to abstain more often invoking a “higher power” for help and vehemently denying any moral underpinnings while simultaneously believing a behavior stems from a biochemical disease and competing hypothetical mechanisms and then instilling a twelve step moralistic character development is an incoherent system of belief. Physical dependence is a medical consequence of long term heavy abuse and it involves a minority of those considered alcoholic. A Christian perspective cannot be added since a secular approach denies any moral considerations, which is foundational to their treatment and a disease model for the Christian redefines God and the meaning of sin. Those who hold to a secular approach or the convoluted components are promoting another gospel.
