Educational Resources

There are very few degree programs specifically in recovery ministry. The closest degree programs are usually in Addiction Studies or Addiction Counseling. Notable exceptions are the programs at Fuller Seminary (see below) and the innovative programs at the Center for the Study of Addiction and Recovery at Texas Tech.

SOBER HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE PROGRAMS

PROGRAMS AT THEOLOGICAL INSTITUTIONS

UNDERGRADUATE (MOSTLY) DEGREE PROGRAMS

ADDICTION COUNSELOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS

Certification programs are designed to meet the requirements for licensure as a drug or alcohol counselor. Certification can be confusing because national standards for certification are still evolving. There are also competing certifications. The State of California, for example, recognizes nine different certifications (listed here). Obviously, it is important to identify the licensing agency for your state and to learn about their specific licensing requirements before you invest in a particular kind of certification program. For information about licensing requirements in your state go here.

  1. We have finally completed our film,
Boys and Men Healing, a bold look
at the epidemic of male child sexual abuse,
it’s impact on individuals and society,
and the importance of men abused as boys
to heal, speak out, and help end the cycle
of child sexual abuse. Would love to have
you visit our website at http://www.bigvoicepictures.com to learn more about the project, and to share this notice with those who might be interested in the film.

Our earlier film, The Healing YEars about women survivors of child sexual abuse, is utilized as a training and educational tool in
churches, prisons, counseling and crisis centers, and universities worldwide.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
I never realized the vastness of Christian Recovery in the United
States. My wife and I have spoken at Dunklin Memorial Camp numerous times. We speak about Dual Diagnosis, Suicide, Servant Leadership and more.
I know the horror of being depressed for many years. What came out of it was this; my wife Robyn and I wrote a book called Broken Minds, Hope for Healing When You Feel Like You’re Losing It (Kregel Publications). We also have written support group material.
We have a story to tell, a burden given by God. How can we help?
