Wow -- God is good. I wasn't looking for an article on sponsorship; I stumbled onto a link to this site through researching NACSW for my boss...but I surely needed it. As I struggle to support a sponcee who is fighting for her life (had 18 months/relapsed over the holidays) -- I cannot help but think of the standard introduction to most 12 step meetings: Rarely have we seen a person fail...

What happened to the process of getting newcomers through the steps as quickly as possible (as was done at the time that bold statement of confidence was authored)? Even though that is how I sponsor, the program(s) today persuade newcomers "not to rush". Our very lives DEPEND upon working our way to a relationship with the ONE who has all power to deliver us from this disease; in other words, working the steps!
